IGSIG has established this privacy policy to explain to you how your information is protected, collected, used and disclosed at our website located at www.igsig.org (the "Site"). By using the Site, you consent to the privacy practices described in this policy, as modified from time to time by us. Please carefully review this policy so you understand our data privacy practices. We may use personal information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in this privacy policy. If our privacy practices change we will post the policy changes to our web site and notify you by indicating the date the privacy policy was last updated. We will also provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses. We encourage you to check back at our web site periodically if you are concerned about how your information is used.
Data We Collect.
When you sign up for an IGSIG.org account, you must provide your name, e-mail address, and area of interest related to immersive gaming. Should you contribute to the site in the form of articles or discussion topics and posts, these will be associated with your user account and so may be personally identifiable.
Cookies.
A "cookie" is a small text file placed on your computer's hard drive by a web server -- which is acknowledged by your web browser. We use cookies for a variety of purposes, including, but not limited to the following: (a) To assist us in providing our services to you; (b) To track activity on our website; (d) To introduce services to you on this and other websites. You can usually set parameters on your computer that allow you to elect to accept cookies or to have your browser notify you each time a cookie is offered. You can also usually delete cookies from your hard drive. You can find instructions on how to accept cookies, on how to be notified that a cookie is being offered, and on how to delete cookies through your Internet Browser. Please note that you may not be able to use the full range of features offered by the site if you choose to disable this tracking mechanism, but it is your right to do so.
How We Use Personal Information.
We collect personal information in a number of ways when you visit our web site. When you visit our web site, some information is also automatically collected, such as your computer's Internet Protocol (IP) address, your computer's operating system, the browser type, the address of a referring web site, and the time and date of your visit and transactions. We treat this information as personal information if we combine it with or link it to any of the identifying information mentioned above. Otherwise, it is used in the aggregate only.
Disclosing Information to Other IGSIG Users.
When you send or receive information via this site, your account information will be associated with it. Information such as, but not limited to, discussion posts which are publicly viewable may then disclose your username to other users.
Disclosing Information to Third Parties.
IGSIG will not sell or rent any of your personally identifiable information to third parties. IGSIG will not share any of your personally identifiable information with third parties except in the limited circumstances described below. These third parties are limited by law or by contract from using the information for secondary purposes beyond the purposes for which the information is shared.
- We disclose information that we in good faith believe is appropriate to cooperate in investigations of fraud or other illegal activity, or to conduct investigations of violations of our User Agreement. For example, this means that if we conduct a fraud investigation and conclude that one side has engaged in deceptive practices, we can give that person or entity's contact information (but not bank account or credit card information) to victims who request it.
- We disclose information in response to a subpoena, warrant, court order, levy, attachment, order of a court-appointed receiver or other comparable legal process, including subpoenas from private parties in a civil action.
Information Security.
We have put into place reasonable security measures in an effort to protect personal information while it is under our control. All personal information relating to our users is stored in a secure environment separate from our web site. Your account information is accessible online only through the use of a password. To protect the confidentiality of personal information, you must keep your password confidential and not disclose it to any other person. You are responsible for all uses of our web site by any person using your password. Please advise us immediately if you believe your password has been misused.
IGSIG does not tolerate spam. Therefore, without limiting the foregoing, you may not add an IGSIG user to your mail list (email, physical mail, SMS messaging, or telephone contact) without their express consent after adequate disclosure, even if said user has previously corresponded with you. To report IGSIG-related spam to IGSIG, please contact us.
Accessing and Changing Your Information.
You can review the personal information you provided us and make any desired changes to such information, or to the settings for your IGSIG account, at any time by logging in to your account on the IGSIG Web site and changing your preferences in the Profile page. If you terminate your account or delete/change your data or content, we usually update our live databases immediately. However, some data may update more slowly, and some old data may remain in our archives and records. This is necessary in order to deter fraud, by ensuring that persons who try to commit fraud will not be able to avoid detection simply by closing their account and opening a new account. However, if you close your account, your personally identifiable information will not be used by us for any further purposes, nor sold or shared with third parties, except as necessary to prevent fraud and assist law enforcement, or as required by law.
Contact Us.
If you have any questions about this privacy statement, IGSIG's information practices, or your dealings with IGSIG, you can contact us by sending an email to webmaster@igsig.org.
